In Uganda, patients facing cancer often endure extensive travel—sometimes hundreds of kilometers—to receive treatment. To improve patient care, a new automated voice call system is being utilized to monitor patients remotely between hospital visits. This system, developed in Uganda, allows doctors to regularly check on patients’ well-being and potential side effects without requiring them to travel. The technology aims to bridge gaps in care created by geographical challenges and limited resources. Regular monitoring could lead to earlier detection of complications and improved treatment outcomes. This innovative approach offers a practical solution for supporting cancer patients across Uganda’s expansive territory and enhances the continuity of care.
