Members of Uganda’s Parliament’s Committee on Physical Infrastructure, headed by Chairperson Mwine Mpaka, recently inspected the operations of the Digital Number Plate System at the Police Command Centre in Naguru. The visit followed concerns raised by legislators regarding the system’s security and vehicle-tracking capabilities. The purpose was to directly assess whether the system was achieving its intended objectives. During the inspection, the committee observed the system’s performance firsthand. Following the assessment in Naguru, the parliament verified the system’s functionality. However, they also identified specific areas needing improvement to optimize its effectiveness. The findings will inform further adjustments and enhancements to the Digital Number Plate System in Uganda.
