Ecobank Uganda’s Managing Director, Grace Muliisa, has advocated for Uganda to shift its focus from simply extracting and exporting raw minerals. Speaking at an Ecobank CEO Breakfast held during the 15th Annual Mineral Wealth Conference at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Muliisa emphasized the greater financial benefits of processing and manufacturing these resources domestically. She believes that value addition will significantly increase revenue generated from Uganda’s mineral wealth. This move towards processing would foster economic diversification and reduce reliance on raw commodity exports. The call to action aims to maximize the economic impact of Uganda’s resources. The discussion took place at an event hosted by The Independent Uganda.
