Uganda has selected global commodities trader Vitol to market its crude oil allocation in preparation for planned exports starting in early 2024. The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) announced the appointment on Monday, stating Vitol will specifically handle the crude oil belonging to the Ugandan government. This move signifies a key step forward for Uganda’s oil sector as it prepares to enter the international market. Details of the contract were not immediately released, but UNOC confirmed Vitol’s role in maximizing the value of Uganda’s crude oil resources. The appointment comes as Uganda finalizes preparations for its first crude oil exports. This partnership aims to ensure effective market access and optimize returns for the country's oil production.
