A parliamentary investigation into alleged corruption at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has been temporarily halted. Fred K. Bamwesigye, the UCAA’s Director General and Accounting Officer, failed to appear before the Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) on Wednesday. His absence has stalled the probe, leaving committee members unable to question him regarding the alleged misconduct. The reason for Bamwesigye's non-appearance remains unclear, creating further scrutiny surrounding the ongoing investigation. This delay raises concerns about the transparency and progress of efforts to address corruption within the aviation authority. The COSASE committee is expected to reschedule the hearing to allow Bamwesigye to attend and provide his account. This incident highlights potential challenges in accessing key personnel during investigations into public institutions.
