A UCG (Union des Caisses de Gestion) agent in Tambacounda, Senegal, has been arrested and charged with the sexual assault of a 13-year-old boy. Mohamed Keita, in his forties, allegedly abused the child, who was the son of a woman with whom he shared housing. The mother reported the incident to the gendarmerie after becoming concerned when her son returned from errands behaving strangely and exhibiting physical signs of abuse. Following questioning, the boy revealed he was sexually assaulted after being lured into Keita’s room under the guise of a task and threatened into silence. Keita confessed to the assault, describing his actions as “ignoble,” and has been taken into custody and brought before the prosecutor. The incident has shocked the Plateau neighborhood of Tambacounda, and Keita now faces prosecution for the crime, which carries severe penalties.
