A joint operation by the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in Rangpur city, Bangladesh, resulted in the arrest of two police officers – one currently serving and one formerly employed by the force – following a raid on a residential hotel. Authorities recovered nineteen yaba tablets and various drug paraphernalia from the officers. Abu Zafar, Deputy Director of the DNC’s Rangpur district office, confirmed the arrests took place on Friday night, October 16th. The raid followed initial information gathered earlier in the week in Payra Chattar area of Rangpur city. Investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of their involvement in drug trafficking activities. This incident raises concerns about potential corruption within the police department in Rangpur. Authorities have vowed to prosecute the officers to the fullest extent of the law.
