Official Turkish data reveals a significant number of juveniles involved in the criminal justice system in 2025. Nearly 196,000 children were classified as having been “pushed into crime” after allegedly committing offenses. Additionally, almost 268,000 children were registered as crime victims during the same period. Overall, security forces dealt with over 609,000 incidents involving juveniles, a slight decrease of 0.4 percent from the previous year. The data, released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), also shows that over 92,000 were recorded as witnesses, with the remaining cases relating to missing persons or minor offenses. These figures highlight ongoing concerns regarding youth involvement in crime and victimization within Turkey.
