Private pharmacy owners in Tunisia are experiencing escalating tensions with the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam) due to a significant financial crisis. The dispute centers around approximately 80 million dinars (roughly $2.6 million USD) in unpaid claims. This issue is compounded by structural disagreements regarding the management of the pharmaceutical sector and ongoing payment delays. Zoubeir Guiga, president of the pharmacy owners’ association, discussed the situation on Jawhara FM on June 25, 2026. The situation highlights broader concerns about funding within Tunisia’s healthcare system. The lack of timely payments threatens the financial stability of private pharmacies and potentially impacts access to medications for citizens. This ongoing conflict requires resolution to ensure continued pharmaceutical services.
