Afenyo-Markin alleges that police and prosecutors frequently pressure suspects into guilty pleas to expedite convictions. He stated he has personally witnessed instances where suspects are promised lenient sentencing in exchange for admitting guilt. The Effutu MP and lawyer fears the new bill will worsen this practice, potentially leading to wrongful convictions. He expressed these concerns during an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show.
