The Unified Union of Treasury Workers (SUTT) has announced a strike beginning June 15th, 2026, following the postponement of a meeting with the Minister of Economy, Finance and Planning. The meeting, scheduled for June 12th, was intended to address an ongoing crisis within the ministry and represented an arbitration attempt. This postponement marks the second time the meeting has been rescheduled, after a previous delay on May 26th. The SUTT views these repeated postponements as a sign of disrespect towards its members and holds the ministry responsible for any resulting social unrest or disruption to public finance management. The union intends to implement action plans approved during a general assembly on May 23rd and frames the strike as a defense against the “dismantling of the Treasury.” The SUTT is calling on all Treasury workers to prepare for continued mobilization. As of yet, the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Planning has not issued an official response to the strike announcement.
