Rail services between Chittagong and the rest of Bangladesh resumed after a three-hour disruption caused by engine failure of the “Sonar Bangla Express” and the derailment of the “Meghna Express” in the Nangalkot Upazila of Cumilla. The “Sonar Bangla Express” was delayed when its engine malfunctioned, and the “Meghna Express” subsequently derailed. Services were restored after a replacement engine was attached to the “Sonar Bangla Express” allowing it to depart for Dhaka around 10 PM. The derailed “Meghna Express” was then recovered. Station masters Jamal Uddin of Nangalkot Station and at the Laksam Junction confirmed the resumption of services. Further details are pending.
