According to Minister of the Environment Igor Červený, toxic substances resulting from past military activity are leaking into the soil within the Šumava National Park, also contaminating the surrounding areas. Červený announced this during a press conference following a government meeting on Monday. Initially, Filip Turek mentioned yperite, but later corrected his statement, identifying the substance as phosgene. The leak poses a potential environmental threat to the Šumava region. The source of the contamination is linked to previous military operations in the area. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of the contamination and planning remediation efforts. This situation raises concerns about the long-term ecological impact on Šumava National Park.
