A small plane carrying eleven tourists and two pilots crashed in southwestern Peru near Nazca, resulting in 13 fatalities. The aircraft, operated by local company Aerodiana, reportedly lost altitude rapidly around 1:00 PM local time shortly after departing from Pisco. The plane subsequently crashed and caught fire. The incident occurred near the famous Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage site attracting numerous tourists. Peruvian aviation authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash. The nationalities of the victims have not yet been released. This is not the first time a tourist plane has crashed in this region, with similar incidents occurring in 2010 and 2022, claiming the lives of British and Dutch tourists respectively.
