Tornadoes swept through parts of Germany on Wednesday evening, causing significant damage to homes and resulting in at least one fatality. Around sixty houses were damaged near Wetzlar in the state of Hesse, according to the German Meteorological Service (DWD). A separate tornado touched down east of Berlin, though the extent of the damage there is currently unknown. Tragically, a woman died in Rhineland-Palatinate during the severe thunderstorms that accompanied the tornadic activity.
