Thailand’s Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) is set to investigate the financial dealings of Samee Chote, the former abbot of Wat Phutthaisawan. The case file will be transferred from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB). AMLO secretary-general Thepsu Bovornchotidara stated on Friday that the agency is prepared to examine the transactions for potential links to illicit activities. This follows close coordination between AMLO and other relevant authorities. The investigation focuses on tracing the money trail left by the former abbot. Further details regarding the nature of the suspected financial irregularities have not yet been released. The probe intends to determine if any illegal financial connections exist.
