Sylhet district is experiencing heightened tension ahead of planned marches by the National Citizen Party (NCP) across five upazilas. The party is scheduled to hold processions and rallies in ওসমানinagar, Jainta, Kanaighat, Gowainghat, and Companyganj on Thursday and Friday. Kanaighat will see a march and rally on Thursday afternoon, followed by another in Osmaninagar that evening. Friday’s events include marches in Companyganj and Gowainghat during the afternoon, culminating in a final rally in Jainta in the evening. In response to the potential for unrest, five platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed to Sylhet. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely to maintain peace and order during the NCP’s planned activities. The deployments aim to prevent any disruptions and ensure the safety of residents.
