Online retailer Temu is facing significant price increases for its customers starting in July due to new European Union import taxes. A three-euro customs fee will be applied to each “batch” of goods – defined as similar items from the same country in a single shipment. This means the cost of low-priced items, such as sandals currently priced at two euros, will rise to 5.50 euros with the new tax. Further increases are anticipated in November with the potential addition of a two-euro handling fee per batch, bringing the sandal price to 7.50 euros. The changes are expected to incentivize customers to order larger quantities at once to minimize per-item costs. Analysts suggest Temu may also consider relocating operations within the EU to mitigate the impact of these new tariffs. The fees apply to each distinct batch of items within an order, not the overall order value.
