The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) in Tanzania has become a leading heart care center in East and Central Africa. Since its establishment, the institute has significantly reduced the need for Tanzanian citizens to seek expensive cardiac treatment abroad. This has resulted in savings of over 95 billion Tanzanian shillings for the government. JKCI’s Executive Director, Dr. Peter Kisenge, highlighted these achievements during the launch of new administrative systems. The institute’s success demonstrates a growing capacity for advanced medical care within the region. This development positions JKCI as a key player in improving healthcare access and reducing financial burdens associated with international medical referrals. The launch event also focused on the institute’s new administrative structure, intended to further enhance its operations.
