Tanzania’s state-owned power company, TANESCO, has announced the 400-kilovolt Chalinze–Dodoma power transmission line is almost finished. The project is currently 94 percent complete and is expected to be fully operational by August 21, 2026. This new line will significantly strengthen Tanzania’s national power grid and improve electricity supply reliability. The announcement was made by TANESCO’s Acting Director of Communications during a press conference on July 28, 2026. Completion of the line is a crucial step in expanding access to electricity across the country, supporting economic growth and development. The project represents a substantial investment in Tanzania’s energy infrastructure.
