Farmers in Southern Tanzania are requesting increased government support, specifically from the Tanzania Fertilizer Regulatory Authority (TFRA), to better identify high-quality fertilisers. The appeal stems from concerns about the prevalence of substandard agricultural inputs currently on the market. Farmers voiced their concerns during a visit to the TFRA pavilion at the Nanenane Agricultural Exhibition. They believe improved public awareness and stricter enforcement are crucial for boosting crop yields and agricultural productivity. The farmers are seeking education on how to differentiate between legitimate and counterfeit products. This initiative aims to protect farmers’ investments and ensure they receive the full benefits of fertiliser use. Ultimately, the farmers hope this will lead to greater food security in the region.
