The Ukerewe District Council in Tanzania has distributed 586 million Tanzanian shillings (approximately $220,000 USD) in loans to 57 community groups. These groups comprise women, youth, and people with disabilities within the district. The funding represents the third-quarter disbursement of the council’s 10 percent loan program for the 2025/26 financial year. The loans aim to support economic empowerment and development at the local level. The funds were officially handed over to the beneficiaries in a ceremony held in Ukerewe District on Wednesday.
