Tanzania’s Office of the Chief Parliamentary Draftsman (OCPD) is undertaking a project to make laws more accessible to ordinary citizens. This initiative focuses on translating complex legislation into simple, understandable Kiswahili. The OCPD also plans to provide legal education programs specifically tailored for farmers, pastoralists, and fishermen. Parliamentary Draftsman Joseph Shoo announced the pledge at the ongoing Nane Nane Exhibition. The goal is to empower these groups by ensuring they understand their rights and obligations under the law. This simplification aims to bridge the gap between legal frameworks and the communities they impact, promoting greater legal awareness and compliance. The move signals a commitment to inclusive governance and citizen engagement in Tanzania.
