The Tanzanian government plans to implement a nationwide expansion of its Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) systems. This decision follows the success of the WASH Systems for Health (WS4H) Programme, which has created a robust framework for long-term, climate-resilient service delivery. Diana Kimario, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at the Ministry of Water, announced the initiative at the program’s closing. The program’s success is attributed to establishing a strong foundation for sustainable practices within the water and sanitation sector. The expansion aims to improve public health outcomes and ensure reliable access to essential WASH services throughout Tanzania. The government believes this replication will bolster their efforts towards achieving sustainable development goals related to water and sanitation.
