The Tanzanian government is developing a specialized market for forest products to directly benefit farmers and local communities. Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Hamad Hassan Chande, announced the initiative in Parliament, stating that planning is already in progress. The project is being coordinated between the Mafinga district council and the Ministry of Industry. This new market aims to eliminate intermediaries, thereby increasing earnings for those involved in the forest product sector. The move intends to streamline sales and ensure a fairer distribution of profits. Further details regarding the market’s implementation and location are expected to be released as the plan advances. This initiative reflects a broader government effort to support local producers and boost the national economy.
