Tanzania has been elected to chair the African Group within UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee for the next two years. This appointment follows the conclusion of the 48th session of the committee, hosted in Busan, South Korea. Alongside the chairmanship, Tanzania will also hold the position of Vice-Chair. This marks a significant leadership role for the East African nation in international heritage preservation efforts. The successful assumption of these roles highlights Tanzania's growing influence within UNESCO. The country will now guide discussions and decisions related to the protection of World Heritage sites across Africa. This leadership position reflects Tanzania’s commitment to conserving cultural and natural heritage globally.
