Tanzania is quickly becoming a leader in the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The country currently ranks third in the issuance of certificates of origin, a key metric for tracking participation. In 2024 alone, Tanzania exported $3.95 billion worth of goods under the AfCFTA agreement, demonstrating substantial engagement. This strong uptake highlights Tanzania’s commitment to and benefit from the continental trade pact. Officials attribute this success to proactive policies and a growing interest from Tanzanian businesses. The increase in exports signals a positive economic trend for the nation and showcases the potential of intra-African trade. Further growth is expected as more businesses leverage the AfCFTA’s opportunities.
