Tanzania’s Prime Minister, Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba, has instructed the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) to prioritize investment in post-harvest infrastructure. This includes building modern storage facilities across the country. The goal is to bolster the Warehouse Receipt System (WRS), a crucial component for agricultural finance. By strengthening the WRS, farmers will be better equipped to utilize their stored produce as collateral for loans. This initiative aims to improve farmers’ access to credit and subsequently, their economic empowerment. The directive was issued in Dodoma on Saturday, signaling the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and reducing post-harvest losses. Ultimately, this investment seeks to stabilise agricultural markets and enhance food security.
