Tanzania’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Sports has mandated the immediate completion of 64 district-level Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) colleges, along with the Songwe Regional VETA College. The directive, issued under the leadership of Committee Chair Husna Sekiboko, aims to accelerate skills training initiatives nationwide. These colleges are intended to provide training programs specifically designed to meet the demands of local economies. The move responds to a need for locally-relevant skills development, boosting employability and economic growth at the district level. By prioritizing these projects, Parliament seeks to ensure citizens have access to practical training opportunities. The committee received and discussed reports before issuing the order, signaling the importance of this educational infrastructure investment. Completion will enable a wider range of citizens to benefit from VETA programs.
