Tanzania’s state-owned power company, TANESCO, has initiated a country-wide program to promote the adoption of electric cooking and electric vehicles. The scheme will allow households to purchase electric stoves through installment plans, making the technology more accessible. Simultaneously, TANESCO will establish 50 electric vehicle charging stations nationwide to support the growing EV market. This initiative is underpinned by recent agreements with AUTEL Intelligent Technology Corp. Ltd. The program aims to accelerate Tanzania’s transition to cleaner energy sources and reduce reliance on traditional cooking fuels. Details regarding the financial terms of the installment plans and the locations of the charging stations were not immediately available. The launch represents a significant step towards sustainable transportation and domestic energy solutions in Tanzania.
