The College of Business Education (CBE) in Tanzania is implementing a new training program for local government officials. This initiative aims to improve the distribution of government empowerment loans intended for women and youth. The program responds to findings from the Controller and Auditor General’s (CAG) recent report, which revealed that councils only disbursed 41 percent of allocated funds. The training seeks to address gaps in loan accessibility and ensure the initiative’s goals are met. The CBE hopes this will lead to increased financial inclusion and support for entrepreneurs. The program is a direct response to concerns about the low rate of loan distribution previously identified by the CAG.
