Tanzania is poised to become self-sufficient in underground mining support equipment, with the upcoming launch of its first hot-dip galvanising plant. Mining Engineering Services Tanzania Limited (MES) will begin production in October, initially focusing on Split Sets – vital components for mine safety. The factory’s capacity is projected at 75,000 units monthly, exceeding current domestic needs. This development signifies a major step in reducing reliance on imports and fostering local industrial growth within the Tanzanian mining sector. The new facility will also create employment opportunities and contribute to the national economy. MES’s investment marks a significant advancement in Tanzania's ability to support its burgeoning mining industry independently. This increased local capacity aims to streamline operations and reduce costs for mining companies operating within the country.
