A Liberian-flagged oil tanker successfully navigated the Strait of Hormuz despite threats from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. The vessel followed a coastal route along Oman, a path recommended by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Omani government. Several other ships subsequently followed the same route without incident. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has condemned the use of routes not authorized by Tehran, issuing a warning against further violations. However, the Guard did not specify what actions would be taken against those who disregard their directive. This transit represents a challenge to Iran’s attempts to control shipping lanes in the critical waterway.
