A temporary disruption in tamoxifen supplies, a crucial medication for breast cancer treatment, is being addressed by the Czech Ministry of Health. To mitigate the shortage, pharmacies will be permitted to create new packages from existing, undamaged blister packs. These re-packaged medications will be tailored to patients’ prescribed dosages and will provide sufficient treatment for approximately two months. The Ministry of Health announced the measure on Monday, developed in collaboration with the State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL). This solution aims to ensure uninterrupted treatment for patients while supply chain issues are resolved. The initiative focuses on maximizing available resources and maintaining patient care amidst the pharmaceutical supply challenge. It represents a proactive step to manage the limited availability of this important drug.
