Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) has blocked a Chinese job platform aimed at young Taiwanese citizens. The decision stems from concerns the platform could be used to collect personal data, potentially compromising national security. The MAC stated the platform violated multiple articles within Taiwan’s Cross-Strait Act, specifically those concerning educational opportunities, political affiliations, and advertising of Chinese goods. Prior to the ban, approximately 2,000 companies had listed around 6,000 job vacancies on the platform. This move signals heightened scrutiny of Chinese platforms operating near or targeting Taiwanese citizens. Officials argue the restrictions are necessary to safeguard Taiwanese interests and prevent undue influence. The blocking of the platform underscores ongoing tensions in cross-strait relations.
