Recent studies in Sweden indicate a rise in antisemitism across the country, prompting the Left Party to remove several local politicians over antisemitic statements. However, research demonstrates that voters who support the Left Party exhibit the lowest levels of antisemitic views compared to other political groups. Conversely, supporters of the Sweden Democrats (SD) and Moderate Party (M) show the highest levels of antisemitism according to the studies. The findings present a complex picture, separating political affiliation from individual prejudice. This data challenges assumptions about the source of antisemitism within the Swedish electorate. The Left Party’s internal actions reflect a commitment to addressing antisemitism within its ranks, despite its voters’ comparatively low levels of prejudice. Further investigation is needed to understand the factors driving antisemitism among supporters of other parties.
