Sweden’s Lifesaving Society (SLS) is warning of increased drowning risks as temperatures rise and more people flock to beaches. Temperatures between 25-30 degrees Celsius are attracting large crowds seeking relief from the heat. Last year, Sweden experienced a particularly deadly summer for drownings, with one person dying each day during the warmest week. Göran Karlsson, chairman of SLS Värmland, highlighted this alarming statistic. The SLS is urging beachgoers to exercise caution and prioritize water safety. Authorities are anticipating similar conditions this year and are emphasizing preventative measures to avoid tragedies. Increased vigilance and awareness are crucial as beach attendance surges.
