Airports of Thailand (AOT) has responded to complaints regarding high food costs at Suvarnabhumi Airport, asserting that prices are regulated. The AOT stated that all restaurants and beverage vendors are mandated to keep their prices no more than 20% above standard market rates. This clarification came following a public inquiry on Khaosod English regarding the affordability of food within the international passenger terminal. As an example, AOT cited a doughnut and Coke combination costing only 50 baht. The response aims to alleviate concerns about overpriced food options for travelers. AOT maintains they are actively monitoring and controlling food prices. The issue gained traction after a post questioning airport food costs went viral on social media.
