A scooter stolen from an Italian man in 1984 has been recovered by police after 41 years. Antonio Smiglio, now 58, reported the Garelli VIP 50 stolen while he was at football practice in Vado Ligure. The scooter was discovered during a routine traffic stop in Volpiano, approximately 120 kilometers away, when a 64-year-old man was found riding it without a license plate. The man, known to police, could not explain how he acquired the vehicle. Police traced Smiglio through the scooter’s chassis number, finding he had moved to Saluzzo. Despite the passage of time, the scooter remains in good working condition, with only minor cosmetic damage. Smiglio expressed gratitude for the recovery, stating it allows him to relive a piece of his youth and plans to restore and ride it again.
