Egyptian journalist Rasha Azab was released on bail of 10,000 Egyptian pounds by the Supreme State Security Prosecution. The release, occurring recently, is pending investigation into case number 8025 of 2026, registered under Supreme State Security. Azab faces charges of “promoting terrorist acts” and “using a website to promote ideas inciting terrorist acts,” according to lawyer Rajia Imran. Imran explained to Mada Masr that the charges stem from a post Azab published on September 23rd on her account. The case underscores ongoing concerns about press freedom in Egypt. The news was first reported by Mada Masr.
