Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has condemned the massive influx of migrants from Morocco into the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta as a territorial attack. Thousands of migrants, including many minors, crossed the border, taking advantage of lax border control following a diplomatic dispute. Sánchez vowed to swiftly return the migrants to Morocco and reinforced border security with military support. The surge began after Madrid hosted Brahim Ghali, the leader of the Polisario Front, a Western Sahara independence movement, enraging Morocco, which claims the territory. The incident has sparked a diplomatic crisis between Spain and Morocco, with Madrid summoning the Moroccan ambassador. The Spanish government views this as a deliberate attempt by Morocco to pressure Spain over its stance on Western Sahara.
