The Southern Region Council (CRS) and Electricity Development Corporation (EDC) are forging a strategic partnership to provide technical internships for students in professional training programs. Discussions centered on utilizing the Memve’ele dam as the primary host site for these internships, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical application. A CRS delegation met with EDC’s Operations Directorate on July 27, 2026, to formalize the collaboration, focused on improving the professional integration of young learners. The initiative will offer valuable pre-employment and skills-enhancement opportunities within EDC’s facilities. EDC’s role is to act as a corporate citizen, while the CRS aims to strengthen education and human capital development in the region. This partnership represents a crucial step toward equipping the local workforce with the skills needed for the energy sector and beyond.
