Restoration work in South San Diego Bay has successfully transformed former salt ponds into thriving tidal wetlands, prompting a significant ecological recovery. The project focused on re-establishing natural tidal patterns and boosting habitat diversity in the area. Following the restoration, wildlife populations have rebounded, with documented observations of 80 bird species, 22 fish species, and 10 invertebrate species. The rapid emergence of native plants further confirms the positive ecological impact of the initiative. This revitalization demonstrates the effectiveness of wetland restoration efforts in supporting biodiversity. The renewed habitats in South San Diego Bay now provide crucial ecosystems for a variety of species. The project highlights a successful example of environmental rehabilitation.
