South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare is streamlining the process for companies to qualify for “Senior-Friendly Product” designation. The changes aim to encourage innovation and wider availability of technology, including AI-powered devices, designed to assist the elderly. Previously, stringent requirements hindered participation, particularly for newer technologies. The revised system clarifies designation procedures and broadens the scope of eligible products. This initiative seeks to address the needs of South Korea’s rapidly aging population by promoting accessible and beneficial technologies. Officials anticipate increased market competition and a greater variety of senior-focused products as a result of these reforms. The updated guidelines will facilitate easier access to products that enhance the quality of life for older adults.
