International Alert and the Centre for Journalism Investigative and Development (CJID) have concluded a training program for 150 journalists in Sokoto State, Nigeria. The workshop focused on equipping journalists with the necessary skills for responsible conflict reporting. Training centered on techniques to prevent the escalation of conflicts through sensitive and accurate reporting. Participants learned strategies to promote peace and understanding within their communities via media coverage. The initiative aims to enhance the capacity of local journalists to contribute to stability in the region. Organizers emphasized the crucial role of the media in shaping public perception during times of unrest. This training hopes to foster a more informed and peaceful narrative around conflicts in Sokoto State.
