Sofia’s police department will no longer conceal the locations of speed cameras, according to the newly appointed director of the Sofia Directorate for Supervision of Public Order (SDVRP). Instead, camera placement will be determined by a daily analysis of traffic accident data within the city. This shift in strategy aims to proactively address high-risk areas and reduce traffic incidents. The director stated the change is intended to be more transparent and effective in improving road safety. Previously, camera locations were kept secret, a practice now deemed less beneficial. The analysis will focus on identifying locations with frequent collisions to optimize camera deployment. This data-driven approach is expected to enhance preventative measures and minimize the number of accidents in Sofia.
