Senegalese religious singer El Hadj Dione, known as Ass Dione, is facing additional legal trouble while currently incarcerated. He appeared in court on Friday regarding accusations of fraud related to a failed travel arrangement to Spain. Dione is accused of accepting a 500,000 CFA franc down payment for securing a work contract in Spain through his travel agency, BY US, but failing to deliver on the promise and subsequently becoming unreachable. The complainant, Abou Diack, filed a lawsuit after discovering the agency’s promoter was also in custody for other offenses. Dione admitted to receiving the funds during questioning but offered an explanation that remains undisclosed. The case has been postponed to June 22nd, adding to Dione’s existing legal challenges, which already include detention on other charges. This new case centers around a February 2026 agreement for a 3.5 million CFA franc work contract.
