Poland’s Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has issued its highest level of alert for parts of Lower Silesia due to intense thunderstorms and downpours. Forecasts predict accumulated rainfall exceeding 90mm within the next 24 hours in the affected region. The IMGW warns the situation is rapidly evolving and these heavy rains carry a significant risk of localized flooding and inundation. A powerful supercell thunderstorm has also developed over the Silesian region, adding to the concerns. Authorities are urging residents to take necessary precautions and stay informed about the developing weather situation. The heightened alert reflects the potential for significant disruption and danger due to the extreme weather conditions. Residents in at-risk areas are advised to monitor local news and official warnings.
