Members of Serbia’s ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) engaged in discussions with representatives from the European Parliament in Strasbourg regarding ongoing reforms. The talks centered on recommendations from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and opinions from the Venice Commission, focusing on democratic standards. According to MP Predrag Prebilić, representatives of the Serbian government perceived the discussions as a form of pressure. The European Parliament members reportedly emphasized the importance of fully implementing these recommendations to ensure progress in Serbia’s EU accession process. The conversation addressed concerns regarding the rule of law and electoral processes within Serbia. The SNS delegation defended their efforts, while acknowledging the need for continued dialogue with European institutions. The outcome of the discussions remains unclear, but signals continued scrutiny of Serbia’s reform agenda from the EU.
