Seoul’s Yongsan district has completed safety inspections of seven capsule hotels following growing concerns about fire safety. The inspections, conducted on February 14th, focused on fire prevention systems and evacuation routes within these unique lodging facilities. Yongsan District Mayor Park Hee-young ordered the comprehensive review to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Inspectors specifically examined fire alarms, extinguishers, and emergency exit accessibility. The initiative comes as capsule hotels gain popularity, raising questions about their suitability for rapid evacuation in emergencies. Authorities aim to proactively address potential risks and safeguard the well-being of guests staying in these accommodations. Results of the inspections will be used to mandate improvements where necessary.
